Description

1948 Gibson ES 125 Acoustic Guitar w/case.  What a beauty!  The Gibson ES-125 made its debut in 1941 as a student model — an affordable archtop electric, of maple laminate, one pickup and little decoration. Originally fitted with a ‘Blade’ style pickup, by 1947 a standard P90 was used. Production lasted until 1970.  The ES stands for Electric Spanish.  It featured one single coil P90 pickup in the neck position. The P90 single coil pickup was Gibsons main type during this time. It featured adjustable pole pieces to improve the balance between each string.  The RGB decals on the headstock were put on by the original owner Romie Claude Baker. He played with a group called the KFRU Mountaineers! He is on the far left in the photo.   One like it was used for the original video of Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty “Stop Dragging My Heart Around “. The guitarist was Mike Campbell.
