1917 “The Gibson” A-1 Mandolin w/case.

A great example of a WW1-era Gibson A-1 mandolin. Carved spruce top with walnut back and sides. Two-piece mahogany neck and ebonized maple center strip. Ebonized headstock veneer with “The Gibson” inlaid in mother-of-pearl. Single bound top and unbound back, and sound hole with double rope rosette. Single bound ebonized fingerboard with pearl dots and original narrow frets. Overall, it’s in excellent condition for a 108-year-old instrument. The body and neck are completely crack-free with a few loving scratches and almost no visible checking. Original pickguard and Handel tuners that are in great shape and working properly. Back and sides are in great shape with little to no excessive dings, scratches or wear marks. The neck has no excessive wear either. Comes with original hard-shell case that is in great condition.
